Tips for Holiday Shopping in Philly

It’s that time of year again, tis the season for holiday shopping! With all of the Holiday deals and steals are being launch. Now the question is where to go if you want to shop locally? Here are a few tips and tricks on where to go and how to go about it this coming year!

Free Parking Saturdays!

Starting after Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day, the City of Philadelphia is offering FREE parking on Saturdays after 11 AM! Take advantage of this opportunity to shop around in the City of Brotherly Love.  Since all of the shops are within walking distance from one another, you can plan to park your car and walk over! Visit Dilworth Park, Christmas Village, Rittenhouse Square, and other popular shopping areas around the city.

Christmas Village at LOVE Park!

Christmas Village’s opening day will be on Thursday November 23rd, on Thanksgiving day! If Christmas Village is new to you, it is more of a reason why you should visit. It is a German-Style open air market, featuring 80 international and local merchants. There will be arts and crafts that can be made into gifts for your family and friends! If art and crafts not your groove, there will also be food and drinks in the area! The offerings will include German fare such as bratwurst or schnitzel served on a roll, the soft egg noodles known as spaetzle, and spiced mulled  wine called called glühwein. Now that it’s interesting, opening hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Made in Philadelphia at Dilworth Park

If arts and crafts are putting you in the shopping spirit, come and check out the Made in Philadelphia Market at Dilworth Park! This will be located right around the corner from Christmas Village, complementing one another! The market is scheduled to open November 18th through January 1st. It is featuring locally designed art, craft, confectionaries, and more! The hours of the market will be Sunday through Thursday at 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday through Saturday at 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. On opening day, More 101 FM will be there promoting the grand opening of the market!
