Everything You Need To Know About Corona Virus

Well it is finally here. Coronavirus has spread to Philadelphia and the greater eastern Pennsylvania area. You have likely been hearing about it on the news constantly for the past few weeks and as was inevitable, it is now in your home state. The first official case in Philadelphia was confirmed Tuesday afternoon and the whole city is talking about it. It is important during an outbreak this serious that everyone takes every possible precaution to protect their health and keep this virus from spreading.

Unfortunately there is a lot of confusion and misinformation about coronavirus floating around so we have compiled some of the best and most reliable information we can find to help you stay safe and healthy. We implore you to do your own research and take everything here with a grain of salt as we at Inkster are not exactly health professionals.

What is COVID-19?

One of the most confusing aspects of Coronavirus is how it has been named and addressed in the press. You have likely heard the name COVID-19, but many people are unsure what COVID-19 really is. Essentially, as far as we can gather, COVID-19 is one of the infectious diseases that can be caused by Coronavirus, but is not the actual virus itself. Other diseases have been caused by types of coronavirus in the past but COVID-19 is the disease being caused by the current strain?

How to stay safe

While it is important not panic as this disease spreads further and wider, it is very important that we all take precautions to make sure we are safe in the coming weeks and possibly months. Most of the common rules during cold and flu season apply here, as coronavirus spreads in very similar ways.

It is important to be washing your hands often as well as keeping them sanitized. In addition it is important to avoid touching your face as much as possible. You will also want to practice good respiratory hygiene and only cause or sneeze into your elbow as that is significantly less likely to spread germs. Most importantly is that if you have even mild symptoms such as a cough or headache STAY HOME. While that might be more financially viable for some than others, it is important for us to be as cautious as possible. Coronavirus may seem only mild for a few days before symptoms worsen and you don’t want to be getting your co-working sick.

How Do I know if I have Coronavirus

There are a few main symptoms to watch out for. You will likely experience a fever along with a dry cough, nasal congestion and a sore throat. Now it is important if you are experiencing those symptoms not to panic and to treat it just as you would likely treat the flu. If however you are someone who is at higher risk such as the elderly and those with heart or lung conditions, you should seek medical advice. You should also seek medical care if you are experiencing trouble breathing.

To reiterate it is incredibly important that if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms that you stay out of public spaces and take every health precaution possible.
We hope that some of this information is helpful to you. In a time like this we all need to be doing everything we can to prevent the spread of this disease. Like we said, we aren’t health professionals and you can find more official information at https://www.who.int/news-room/q-a-detail/q-a-coronaviruses.
