Father and Me Shirts

The father-child relationship has always been one of the most powerful bonds in human history.

There are so many reasons why we love spending time with our father: he always makes us laugh; he takes us to places; he takes care of us when we are sick; he does fun things like dance parties on Saturdays at home; but most importantly? He listens to everything we have to say (even if it’s just about something silly).

But what happens when you’re not a kid anymore? What do you do when it’s time to move on from being a son or daughter, and start being your own person?

If you’re looking for something to commemorate your transition into adulthood, we’ve got just the thing: Inksterprints Father and Me shirts.

Made out of 100% cotton (so they feel good), these shirts are great for any occasion where you might want to show off your love for your dad—or maybe even just let everyone know that he’s not coming with you on your date tonight.

You can give Dad a shirt that says “Father and Me” on it, because he is your dad, and you’re proud of him. You can send him a card, because he’s always been there for you—even when he wasn’t around. And if you want to go out with him for a special meal or celebration.

The History of Father’s Day

The historical background of Father’s Day is to some degree cloudy. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when it began, but the general consensus is that Sonora Smart Dodd was the woman who started it all. Born in Arizona in 1882, she first came up with the idea as a way to honor her father, whose wife had died in childbirth. He worked as a Civil War veteran and farmer and she wanted a day to celebrate him—and all fathers everywhere.

Her idea was met with some resistance at first—after all, people thought it was weird to celebrate fathers on the same day as moms. But eventually enough people agreed with her that Father’s Day became a thing!

Dodd’s idea took off quickly after she spoke about it at the White House Conference on Children and Youth later that year. By 1912, several states began officially recognizing Father’s Day on their calendars. Then World War I broke out and put a damper on things—but after the war ended, Father’s Day gained momentum again until it became an official national holiday in 1972!

Do Americans see Father’s Day as a “real” holiday?

Americans are split on whether or not Father’s Day is a “real” holiday.

It’s no secret that Americans love their dads. In fact, they love them so much that it makes sense to celebrate them on a special holiday – right?

Well, according to a new poll, over half of Americans believe that Father’s Day is celebrated more because it is a “real” special occasion as opposed to being celebrated more because of pressure from commercial entities. Only 35% of Americans hold this view.

In spite of the fact that it’s viewed as a genuine occasion, Americans probably won’t spend truckloads of money on Father’s Day. In a past survey around Mother’s Day, 62% say they will quite often spend more cash on Mother’s Day than Father’s Day. Just 6% of Americans say they for the most part go through more on Father’s Day – sorry, fathers.

What dad wants for Father’s Day

Have you forgotten what to get dad for Father’s Day? Don’t worry! We’ve got your back. Turns out, dads are pretty easy to shop for.

When we asked dads what they wanted most from their kids on Father’s Day, a whopping 28% of them said they’d like a card. That’s almost one in three dads who are just waiting for that special note from their little ones to make their day complete.

And if your dad or brother or husband or whoever is more of an old-school type who doesn’t like to read his cards (or can’t read), don’t worry—we’ve got some non-card options too!

You can try clothing. Such as, matching “Father and Me” shirts. The top things dads want are clothing, something homemade, tools, hobby items and electronics.

Spending Time with Family on Father’s Day

18% of dads said they want something homemade—a drawing or craft that they can keep forever and show off with pride every time they get together with friends and family members who also have kids who made them something awesome. Well, if your dad is one of those who wants a card and a special day with his family then there are lots of ways you can make that happen. Consider taking him out for dinner at his favorite restaurant or giving him a gift certificate for some extra time with you or your siblings. He might also enjoy spending some time outside on Father’s Day so consider giving him an extra helping hand by providing him with some tools that will help him do whatever he enjoys most.

And we all know how much dads love tools! But seriously, if you’re going to go this route, make sure it’s really nice tool—not just any old thing that happens to be lying around in the garage.
